How do I get rid of that horrible smell in my pantry?

The veneer-faced pantry/Storage Cabinets in my new (old) apartment all smell like moldy oatmeal. I’ve tried to wipe it down with a citrus-based kitchen cleaner but the smell still remains. Is there anything that can get rid of that smell? Thanks.

Use vinegar to freshen a smelly pantry:

Remove the contents and wipe the walls, ceiling, and floor with a cloth soaked in a solution of 1 cup each of vinegar and ammonia and 1/4 cup baking soda in 1 gallon water.

Let the interior dry before replacing everything.

A mixture of bleach and water. don’t soak it but just wipe it down good.

Try cleaning it with baking soda, then leave an open box in the pantry for a while. It should absorb some of the odor.

If after the first two suggestions don’t work, then you may have to consider painting the pantry inside in order to seal the smell. I’d use a good oil based paint.
