As they are very little, you can try a powerful blue. I don't think dark wood can contribute to child's imagination as a lively color (blue, green, red, yellow). Be careful with the cabinets and check their corners (some of them are really sharp, and rough). You can also try adding some swinging horses and other kind of swings. Your boys will love them, and not just for the moment.
